conservatory underfloor heating

Installing underfloor heating in your Conservatory is the simplest and most cost effective way to enjoy year round heating in your conservatory.

Whether you decided on tiles, vinyl or wooden flooring underfloor heating can be installed with ease and at a cost much less than you would think! Without radiators taking up space your conservatory will seem more open and inviting and with the luxurious feel of radiant heat rising from your floor you will want to use your conservatory all year round!

Conservatories require 200w of heating per meter (rather than the usual 150w) because they are classed as a high heat loss area. You can install either electric underfloor heating or water underfloor heating - please see below for the pros and cons of both systems.

Water under floor systems can be quickly added to a conservatory that has existing radiators. The pipework has to be installed in the concrete screed so this may require raising the floor height in existing rooms or can be easily fitted during the construction of a new conservatory.

Water systems can require maintainance over the lifetime of the system. Water underfloor heating can be expensive to install, if gas installation work is required (new boiler) and new pipework needs to be installed to reach the area , then plumbing costs can mount up.A system can be quickly installed using one of our single room underfloor heating water kits suitable for areas up to 24m2For larger areas multi room kits or bespoke systems are availableWater underfloor heating is not as easy to install as electric underfloor heating - basic DIY skills may not be enough and the skills of a plumber and electrician will probably be requiredGas is less expensive than electricity and therefore the system will be cheaper to run over the lifetime than an electric system - but this needs to be balanced with the likely higher installation costs

Electric underfloor heating can be added to any conservatory with an electrical supply. Although a part P electrician will be required to make the final connections, the main part of the installation can be carried out with ease by any DIY'er. For full DIY instructions click here.

Electric underfloor heating has no moving parts and is unlikey to malfunction during the lifetime of the systemElectric systems can be more expensive to run than water systems (depending on insulation of the property)Electric systems are cheaper to install than warm water underfloor heatingCan normally be installed from an existing electrical supply
