Approved Distributer of Heat Store Tile Backer Boards™
When buying insulation boards its important to get the correct board for your type of heating and also your subfloor.
In most homes you will have either a concrete sub floor or wood subfloor (chipboard or floorboards). If you have a wood subfloor then this means that you will require the best and most stable board - The HeatStore Tile Backer Board.
The difference between the Tile Backer Board and the XPS boards is that the tile backer boards have a polymer modified cement coating both sides - this makes them very strong and they resist movement in the sub floor.
Pro's for XPS boards
They are cheaper to buy
They have the same insulation properties as the tile backer boards
They can be used for both tile and wood floor heating systems
Con's for XPS boards
They take longer to install - because they are lighter and more delicate they need to be pressed into any tile adhesive used to fit them and you need to make sure that the board is fully adhered to the adhesive.
They can not be used on a wooden subfloor like floor boards or chipboard
Pro's for tile backer boards
They can be screwed (with washers) to wooden subfloors which makes installing over this surface much quicker
They are very tough with the cement coating and you can stand (or even jump) on them when installing onto tile adhesive
Cons for tile backer boards
They are more expensive than XPS boards
They can only be used with tile heating systems
Pros for XPS Standard Board
They are the lowest priced best quality wood floor underlay in the UK today!
They have good sound and thermal insulation properties
Cons for XPS Standard Board
The thermal properties are not quite as good as the XPS Premium boards
They only come in 6mm
They can only be used as an underlay with our under laminate heating systems
