First measure the length and width of the room in meters - for an average sized kitchen this would be approx 3.5m x 4m.
Then multiply these measuremtents - which gives a square meterage of 14m2.
Now it is necessary to remove from this total any kitchen units or other fixed items of furniture that may block the heat.
A normal kitchen unit is 0.6m wide, if the units were along 4m of wall in the kitchen, this would be 0.6m x 4m = 2.4m2
Then remove this total from the area 14m2 total kitchen area less - 2.4m2 of kitchen units = 11.6m2
Then remove an additional 10% from the total to allow for a 75mm gap around the edges - this would be 11.6m2 - 10% = 10.44m2
Therefore a total area to cover would be 10.44 and the nearest Mat kit to cover this would be 10m2 or a loose cable kit would be 8.8 to 11.2
This applies to both underwood systems and undertile systems
When installing insulation boards first, you need to order enough to cover the whole floor area, ie do not remove the 10% as the boards need to go right up to the edges, please click here to find out more about how to install our insulation boards
First measure the length and width of the room in meters - for an average sized bathroom this would be approx 2m x 2.5m.
Then multiply these measuremtents - which gives a square meterage of 5m2
Now it is necessary to remove from this total any bathroom furniture or other fixed items of furniture that may block the heat ie vanity units - sinks- toilets
A normal bath is 700mm wide by 1700mm long so this would give a square meterage of 1.19m2,
Then remove this total from the area - 5m2 total Bathroom area less - 1.19m2 Bath = 3.81m
Then remove an additional 10% from the total to allow for a 75mm gap around the edges - this would be 0.38m2 so therefore 3.81- 0.38 = 3.43
Therefore a total area to cover would be 3.43 and the nearest Mat kit to cover this would be 3m2 or a loose cable kit would be 2.9 to 3.7
This applies to both underwood systems and undertile systems
When installing insulation boards first, you need to order enough to cover the whole floor area, ie do not remove the 10% as the boards need to go right up to the edges, please click here to find out more about how to install our insulation boards
When choosing a loose cable system you will notice that more than one kit will suit your area, the reason for this is that depending on how close you space the loose cables apart will determine the output of heat you will get, ie: spacing the cables at the following
6cm spacing between cable loops = 165w/m2.
6.5cm spacing between cable loops = 150w/m2.
7.5cm spacing between cable loops = 130w/m2.
If you are in any doubt about the spacing or sizeing of any system please do not hesitate to call us for advice, we have fully qualified electricians to talk 7 days a week on 0800 077 8374
