Underlay should not be confused with insulation! For tiles and wood underfloor heating systems an underlay is not required but insulation is.
For Undercarpet underfloor heating systems the floor build up is as follows:
Concrete or Wooden Subfloor
Insulation Boards
Electric Underfloor Heating
Special Low Tog Underlay
Carpet
We recommend Duralay Heatflow underlay for use with both our water underfloor heating and electric underfloor heating systems.
Duralay Heatflow underlay was the first underlay specially developed for underfloor heating under carpets. This 6.10mm textured flat, sponge rubber underlay has a low tog value of 0.75 tog enabling it to maximise the warmth and cosiness of your room, and reduce your heating costs.
Low tog underlays keep the room temperature high and keep your heating bills as low as possible.
We do not stock Duralay Heatflow but can recommend
They have large stocks of different types of underlay all suitable for use with both water underfloor heating and electric underfloor heating.
