Children’s Hospice Week supported by Basildon Businesses

As Children’s Hospice Week starts on Friday 26th April, businesses in the Basildon area are preparing to get involved in some superhero action, encouraging other businesses and community members to ‘Be a Hero’ and support the Little Havens Hospice.

Throughout the week, members of local businesses will be using their powers to make Children’s Hospice Week a success. The Underfloor Heating Store, Nandos Restaurant, Hobbycraft and LV Insurance will all be taking part in the activities, with some members of staff spending time at the hospice dressed as their favourite alter egos.

Little Havens Hospice in Essex first opened its doors in 1998 to care for children who are ill and support their families. The cost of providing these free but vital services amounted to £2.4 million in 2012-13. All of the money raised during Children’s Hospice Week will be donated to help with these costs.

Speaking about the fundraising activities, Michael Lewis from the Underfloor Heating Store said:

“We are thrilled to be repeating our support for Little Havens this year by fundraising during Children’s Hospice Week. We had a great time dressing up last year and even took part in a Superhero themed collection for the hospice in the Eastgate Shopping Centre. It brought lots of smiles to shoppers so we want to encourage everyone to join in the fun and take part too”.

Batman & Robin and Captain America will be among the superheroes making an appearance, along with other favourites who hope to make the week a happy and successful event for all.
